Ohio State head coach Ryan Day takes part in his weekly radio show on Thursday beginning at 12:00 pm. He will answer questions from hosts Paul Keels and Jim Lachey, providing updates on the Buckeyes from the last week. He will also take questions from fans via social media. We will provide updates as they happen throughout the hour. Refresh for all of the latest.
 The team practiced outside yesterday.
Day will have some family and friends at the game.
Asked for his favorite and least favorite venues in the Big Ten, he said Northwestern was neat. “Being on the road is fun.” It helps that Buckeye fans travel well.
Pregame meal is always four hours before the game and every kickoff time brings its own schedule for rest and walkthroughs.
“I can’t say enough about our scout team.” They have provided great looks all year long. It’s one of the best things this program does.
You sometimes have to remind a backup quarterback that they can get hit in a game because they only ever practice and they don’t get hit in practice. You have to remind them to speed things up during a game.
It’s good to play in New Jersey because they have a number of players from there. It’s also good to have a presence in the state for recruiting purposes.
This is his second time facing Rutgers, but it will still come down to how well the team plays, not his familiarity with Rutgers.
Ryan Day has known Rutgers interim head coach Nunzio Campanile for a long time from recruiting high schools in New Jersey. Campanile’s brother was a coach at New Hampshire when Day was a quarterback there.
Jonah Jackson is a prideful guy. “I don’t think this will be easy for him. I think it will be hard to go back.” He has been great for the offensive line and the OL has been great for him. Day is so happy seeing Jackson enjoying his senior season.
They decided during the week to try the onside kick last week. Day told the coverage unit that if they stop the returner twice, they’d do it on the third kickoff. After those first two stops, then the coverage team called Day out wanting the onside kick and forced his hand.
This week was mostly 1s vs 2s in practice. The twos are getting a ton of work and going against very talented players. It builds depth.
The offensive line has been playing well. They ended the game against Wisconsin. They are moving the guys off the ball.
Good to have closure on the Chase Young situation. Can move forward now. He has been practicing. He won’t travel, but he’ll be back with the team on Sunday.
The challenge for the guys in the second half last week was to go win the game as if it was tied 0-0.
Day wants to see the passing game take the next step because they will need that in November and beyond to win games. They threw it 25 times in the first half last week.
These receivers are unselfish. Not only do they split reps, but they don’t play the entire game.
JK Dobbins only has 42 carries in the second half this year.
