The Dwayne Haskins Record Tracker

Ohio State football quarterback Dwayne Haskins Record

In the first truly meaningful series of his career as a college football player, Dwayne Haskins stepped onto the field in the middle of the greatest rivalry in all of sports.

The Buckeyes were trailing arch-rival Michigan 20-14 in the third quarter. Their Big Ten championship and College Football Playoff hopes were on the line.

Haskins immediately responded with one of the most iconic throws in the history of the rivalry, connecting with a soaring Austin Mack to convert a 3rd-and-13.

Two plays later, he scrambled 22 yards to set up what turned out to be the game-winning touchdown.

All offseason, Haskins’ performance in a quarter and a half in Ann Arbor fueled wild, ludicrous speculation about what he would accomplish once he was the Buckeyes’ full-time starter.

People were willing to crown him anything from a Heisman contender, to one of the greatest quarterbacks in Ohio State history.

Exactly six regular season games later, every single bit of that hype appears justified.

Haskins has lead an Ohio State team without a championship-caliber run game or defense to a 6-0 start.

Halfway through his first regular season as a starting quarterback, he is already ludicrously high on many categories in the Ohio State football record book – for single game, single season, and even career stats.

Here’s a look at where he ranks on every major OSU passing record.

Single Game Passing Yards

OSU Record: 458 by Art Schlichter (1981)

Haskins: 455 vs. Indiana (2nd all time)

Single Season Passing Yards

OSU Record: 3,330 by Joe Germaine (1998)

Haskins: 1,919 through six games. That already ties him with Steve Bellisari (2001) for 25th place. Haskins is on pace for 3,838 in the regular season alone.

Career Passing Yards

OSU Record: 9,434 by J.T. Barrett

Haskins: 2,484 so far. He is currently in 16th place all-time, and passed Tom Tupa, Cardale Jones, Cornelius Greene, Kirk Herbstreit, and Rex Kern on Saturday alone.

Haskins: 44 vs. Indiana (tied for 6th all time)

Single Season Pass Attempts

OSU Record: 384 by Joe Germaine (1998)

Haskins: 198 so far. He is on pace for 396 in the regular season alone.

Career Pass Attempts

OSU Record: 1,211 by J.T. Barrett

Haskins: 255. Unless you think he’s going to play until he’s a fifth-year senior, this one is probably safe. Jim Karsatos is in 10th place with 629.

Single Game Pass Completions

OSU Record: 33 by J.T. Barrett (2017)

Haskins: 33 vs. Indiana (tied school record)

Single Season Pass Completions

OSU Record: 240 by J.T. Barrett (2017)

Haskins: 142 so far. He is on pace for 284 in the regular season alone. He could pass Bobby Hoying’s 1994 (170 completions) to move into the top-10 this week.

Career Pass Completions

OSU Record: 769 by J.T. Barrett

Haskins: 182. Jim Karsatos is 10th all-time with 359. That is definitely within reach this season if the Buckeyes play a couple postseason games.

Single Game Completion Percentage (min. 10 attempts)

OSU Record: 100% by Tate Martell (2018)

Haskins: 87.5% vs. Tulane (21-for-24), 3rd all-time. 86.9% vs. Rutgers (20-for-23), 4th all-time. He had two of the four most accurate passing performances in OSU history in his first four starts.

Single Season Touchdown Passes

OSU Record: 35 by J.T. Barrett (2017)

Career Touchdown Passes

OSU Record: 104 by J.T. Barrett

Haskins: 29. He’s not going to catch Barrett this year, but this might still be the most stunning number on here. Six games into his career as a starter, Haskins is just three touchdown passes away from moving into the top-10 of career touchdown passes for a Buckeye quarterback. If he can maintain this pace, he could finish the postseason in second place all-time ahead of Bobby Hoying (57).

Haskins: 319.8 so far.
