If you were trying to explain Dwayne Haskins’ 2018 season, “he broke the Big Ten single-season records for passing yards and passing touchdowns, and basically no one noticed since he’s been breaking records all season” would be a good start.
Haskins shattered former Purdue quarterback Curtis Painter’s old mark late in the Buckeyes’ 62-39 drubbing of arch-rival Michigan on Saturday. He also set a new conference record with 42 touchdown passes this year, breaking Drew Brees’ old mark.
He’s now just 64 yards away from Denard Robinson’s single-season record for total yardage (4,272) as well.
Oh, and he just led an offense to score more points against Michigan than any team has in regulation in the 139-year history of the Wolverine program.
He’s the first Big Ten quarterback to throw for 5+ touchdowns in a game more than twice in a season – and he’s now done it four times.
