For the second game in a row, junior running back JK Dobbins has been named Ohio State’s offensive player of the week.
In Saturday’s game against the Indiana Hoosiers, Dobbins rushed for 193 yards on 22 carries with a touchdown. It was the second-highest yardage output of his career, behind only the 203 yards rushing in last year’s overtime thriller at Maryland.
For the first time this season, junior defensive end Chase Young is not the Buckeyes’ defensive player of the game. That honor goes to senior cornerback Damon Arnette, who had two tackles, two pass breakups, and a 96-yard pick six. The return was the fourth-longest interception return in school history.
Sophomore wide receiver Chris Olave was the special teams player of the game. His blocked punt in the second quarter was a turning point in the game and gave Ohio State some momentum that they then put to good use.
For the third-consecutive week, all five starting offensive linemen — Thayer Munford, Jonah Jackson, Josh Myers, Wyatt Davis, and Branden Bowen — graded as Champions. They led the way for Ohio State’s season high 306 yards rushing.
Joining the Buckeyes up front on offense were the aforementioned Dobbins, sophomore quarterback Justin Fields, Olave, senior receiver Austin Mack, redshirt freshman running back Master Teague, junior tight end Luke Farrell, senior tight end Rashod Berry, and senior receiver Binjimen Victor.
Defensively, Chase Young was a Champion for the third-consecutive week. He and Damon Arnette were joined by senior nose tackles Robert Landers and Davon Hamilton, junior linebacker Pete Werner, senior safety Jordan Fuller, and redshirt sophomore cornerback Shaun Wade.
Fuller, Hamilton, and Young have earned Champions grades in each game, as have Fields, Mack, Olave, and the five starting offensive linemen.
The scout team players of the week were walk-on running back Robert Cope, walk-on offensive lineman Nathan Brock, redshirt freshman defensive end Alex Williams, and true freshman linebacker Tommy Eichenberg.
