Rated a 4-star prospect and the No. 49 player in the 2018 recruiting class per 247Sports, Muhammad selected the Buckeyes over offers from Xavier, Virginia, UConn, St. John’s, West Virginia, Notre Dame, Texas A&M, and Rider.
The No. 8 shooting guard in the nation per 247Sports, Muhammad averaged 15.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game last season. As a sophomore, he averaged 21.7 points per game.
Muhammad has a long reach and is a creative finisher around the basket. He is a confident shooter with a nice looking release. He has good range and a terrific crossover dribble that can get him into the paint whenever he wants. He isn’t afraid to take the ball the entire way. He can fluctuate between distributor and scorer with ease. He can shoot off the dribble or catch-and-shoot, and he gets nice lift on his jumpers.
Muhammad is the third commitment this week for the Buckeyes. He joins 4-star forward Jaedon LeDee and 3-star point guard Duane Washington Jr., who committed Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively.
OSU head coach Chris Holtmann still has room for a few more commitments in the 2018 class. His sights are currently set on Florida guard Elijah Weaver, Ohio swingman Justin Ahrens, and others.
With the three commitments, this has been the most productive week in Ohio State basketball recruiting since the last week of June, 2005, when the Buckeyes received verbal commitments from Indiana prospects Greg Oden and Mike Conley.
