5-Star OT Cade Mays Decommits from Tennessee Prior to OSU Official Visit

Cade Mays

Five-star offensive tackle Cade Mays decommitted from Tennessee on Tuesday, just days prior to a scheduled official visit to Ohio State.

He announced his decommitment via Twitter.

Mays (6-6 318) attends Knoxville Catholic High School, which is just 13 miles away from Tennessee’s Neyland Stadium. He committed to the Vols back in July of 2015.

Mays is ranked as the No. 2 offensive tackle in the 2018 recruiting class per the 247Sports Composite, and the No. 15 player in the nation overall. He will be taking his first official visit to Ohio State this weekend, but it will not be his last.

Following his OSU trip, he will be visiting Clemson, then Tennessee, then Notre Dame, and finally Georgia. So the fact that Mays decommitted prior to an Ohio State official visit doesn’t necessarily mean anything for the Buckeyes, other than they are now one of five serious suitors for one of the nation’s top offensive linemen.

Ohio State’s involvement with Mays could be key if the Buckeyes are not able to secure a commitment from 5-star Ohio offensive tackle Jackson Carman. Carman took his official visit to OSU for the Penn State game, but he also has official visits to Florida State scheduled next weekend, and then Clemson and Florida State in December.

As always, you can expect signing day — both of them — to be rather busy for Urban Meyer and the Buckeyes.

  1. Get your ass up here CADE & START KICKING SOME!!!!

  2. Come join the Buckeyes Cade. As a Christian you’re already under the fiery spotlight of scrutiny. As a Christian the fear of truth and standards go without saying. You face them and you prove your strength by living up to the standards of God. The spotlight is really bright in Columbus, Ohio but, I believe you have the strength, stamina and desire to win by example.
