Buckeyes Secure No. 2 Seed in Big Ten Tournament

Senior Night

No. 16 Ohio State (24-7, 15-3) did what they were supposed to do on Friday, winning at Bloomington, but they still needed a Wisconsin win over No. 2 Michigan State (27-3, 15-3) on Sunday to secure a share of the Big Ten Championship.

Unfortunately for the Buckeyes, the Spartans refused to cooperate, pulling out a tough 68-63 victory at Wisconsin (14-17, 7-11).

Picked to finish near the bottom of the Big Ten standings, Ohio State instead shocked the nation by not only fighting its way into the rankings, but also the NCAA Tournament. They held out hope on Sunday that a conference title would come as well, but now their attention will turn to the Big Ten Tournament, which begins Wednesday Feb. 28.

Ohio State’s opponent is still to be determined, but they will next play Friday March 2 at 6:30 pm on BTN. They will play the winner of the No. 10 seed and No. 7 seed. Northwestern is already locked in at the No. 10 seed, but the No. 7 seed is still to be determined.

Penn State plays at Nebraska at 5:15 pm today, and if the Nittany Lions win, they will earn the No. 6 seed and Indiana will be the No. 7 seed. If Penn State loses, then they will be the No. 7 seed and the Hoosiers will be the No. 6 seed.

The full bracket will be released Sunday night following all of the Big Ten games.
