Starting Left Tackle Thayer Munford Misses Practice

Ohio State football Thayer Munford injury

The Ohio State offensive line may be missing two starters for the 2019 Rose Bowl.

Thayer Munford, the Buckeyes’ starting left tackle, did not participate in Thursday’s practice. Instead, he was just watching while sitting inside an ATV next to Demetrius Knox.

Knox spent the season as OSU’s starting right guard, but suffered a season-ending foot injury in the closing minutes of the Buckeyes’ 62-39 win over Michigan.

If Munford can’t play in the Rose Bowl, Josh Alabi would make his first career start. He was working with the first-team offense at practice.

That would leave OSU with a starting line of Alabi, Malcolm Pridgeon, Michael Jordan, Wyatt Davis, and Isaiah Prince.

The Rose Bowl will be only the second career start for Davis.

Players and coaches did not meet with media at practice, but more information on Munford’s status may be available at the Lawry’s Beef Bowl event, which will be held Thursday evening.

The Buckeyes’ offensive players and coaches will hold their next press conference on Saturday. There should be an update on Munford then, if not before.

The only other notable injury news was that safety Isaiah Pryor was in an orange “limited contact” jersey. However, Pryor participated in a tackling drill during the open portion of practice, so his injury does not appear to be too serious.
