College football is a constant and ever-changing arms race.
If one team gets a waterfall in their locker room, that means another has to put a slide in their practice facility. Then someone decides they want to spend $10,000 per locker in their locker room. (Ok, cool. Hook ’em.)
College football players spend a lot of time inside their practice facilities.
In addition to the obvious practice times and team meetings, they’re also there to eat some meals, get treated for injuries, and study film.
And because they spend so much time inside the building, it makes sense that the players would want them to be as top-notch as possible.
And because facilities are one of the ways the top-level programs in the nation can differentiate themselves from the Outback Bowl dreck of college football’s untouchable caste… the race is on.
Ohio State just unveiled its new dining facilities inside the Woody Hayes Athletic Center.
In an enormous dining room, players can get all sorts of made-to-order food like pizzas.
The renovated facility also includes pool tables, Pop-A-Shot basketball games, and film rooms where individual units can break down footage from games or practices.
It’s quite an impressive setup, which should help continue to attract some of the top high school football players in the nation.
And just as important for the future of the program, it should make the WHAC a place they want to spend a lot of time during their years at Ohio State as well.
You can watch a short video tour of the facility from Ohio State’s media department below.

I hope they put as much emphasis on academic studies so the players stay eligible
There are tutors and mentors and all of that stuff is well covered and well provided for.
Pretty nice. We should be able to attract some new quarterbacks with these new amenities.
The problem hasn’t been attracting them.
