Four-star Lake Travis (Austin, TX) wide receiver Garrett Wilson released his Top 8 via Twitter Sunday evening and the Buckeyes expectedly made the cut.
All told, Wilson included Nebraska, Texas, TCU, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, and Arkansas on his list.
Wilson (6-0 185) is originally from Dublin, Ohio and was teammates with OSU freshman quarterback Matthew Baldwin at Lake Travis High School.
As a junior, Garrett caught 98 passes for 1,773 yards and 26 touchdowns. He was named Second-Team All-State, which makes you wonder what the First-Team guys did.
Wilson is ranked the No. 14 receiver in the nation per the 247Sports Composite and the No. 79 player overall. He plays both ways for Lake Travis and is dynamic on both offense and defense.
As a receiver, Wilson is a well-rounded deep threat who excels all over the field. His ability after the catch is what really jumps out. He can take a quick screen a long way, and he is as difficult to cover as he is to tackle.
Here is a clip of him as a deep threat.

And for good measure, here he is at cornerback.

Wilson is the No. 10 prospect in the state of Texas and the No. 4 receiver in the state. Ohio State has offered the top six receivers in Texas, including Allen’s Theo Wease and Houston’s Jalen Curry.
The Buckeyes do not yet have a wide receiver committed in the 2019 class, but that will eventually change as OSU will look to add a number of pass catchers in the 2019 cycle as they graduate four receivers and lose perhaps even more than that.
Wilson would project as more a Z receiver or flanker in Ohio State’s offense, which is where you can find Terry McLaurin and Johnnie Dixon now. He has similarities to both players, as he can get deep like McLaurin and make defenders miss like Dixon.
Ohio State will work on getting Wilson in for an official visit this fall.

Defeat snatched from the jaws of victory. OSU seemed to take control the last 5, PSU hits a lucky three, OSU can”t hold on to the ball, the refs seemed to miss some calls and a total D breakdown the last 10 seconds o fthe game. Who would of thought that PSU would of been the thorn in OSU”s side.
Hopefully we can knock the visit(s) out of the park and land him, that would be huge. Growing up in the area and having his former QB on the team is a big bonus.
