For the second time in four years, a backup quarterback came off the bench in the second half to replace an injured J.T. Barrett in The Game. And just like Cardale Jones in 2014, Dwayne Haskins led the Buckeyes to a win over Michigan. Barrett hobbled off the field with a knee injury when Ohio State trailed 21-20 in the third quarter. The No. 3 Michigan Wolverines came within an inch of upsetting the No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes in double-overtime, but for the 14th time in 16 seasons, OSU won The Game. This was the first matchup of top-5 teams in the series since 2006, and The Game lived up to every bit of the hype. With the Buckeyes facing 4th-and-1 and trailing 27-24 in the second overtime period, OSU quarterback J.T. Barrett just barely got the ball across the 15 yard line to gain the game-saving first down. The highly-anticipated first matchup between Ohio State’s Urban Meyer and Michigan’s Jim Harbaugh turned into one of the biggest routs in the history of The Game. No. 8 Ohio State wore down the No. 10 Michigan defense, and then simply ran over them. The Buckeyes rushed for 369 yards and five touchdowns, the majority coming in the second half.
