A couple of weeks ago, Ohio State head coach Ryan Day said the Buckeyes were still looking for a No. 2 running back to complement starter JK Dobbins. A week later, he said Demario McCall had the edge at the moment. This week, running backs coach Tony Alford said McCall was indeed his backup running back. McCall is now a fourth-year junior…
Thus far, our statistical projections have touched on a little over a dozen Buckeye players. We were able to pinpoint exactly who would catch the ball this season for the hometown team. To do so, a complex algorithm was created and utilized. The system is based on hundreds of factors, churns out millions of reports, and predicts stats for the entire OSU roster.
The last time Ohio State returned a punt for a touchdown was last November against Michigan. Freshman wide receiver Chris Olave blocked a Will Hart punt and it ended up in the arms of freshman cornerback Sevyn Banks, who ran it in the rest of the way for a touchdown. It’s a great way to return punts, but it doesn’t happen nearly often enough to be…
Ohio State opened fall camp one week ago today. Their first scrimmage is tomorrow. Scrimmages are where players are given an opportunity to show what they can do in a semi-realistic simulation of an actual game. Coaches learn a lot from scrimmages, which is why Ryan Day said they’d start evaluating the quarterbacks a lot more seriously after the second scrimmage.
In his career, Ohio State fourth-year junior running back Demario McCall has averaged 7.9 yards every time he’s touched the football on offense. McCall is one of those guys who you keep your eye on the entire time during a play and only look away once the whistle is blown. The problem is, however, that there haven’t been as many of those…
Fall camp gets underway for the Buckeyes on Friday and every single Ohio State position coach will have a mental list of things that they need to get done. In fact, they may actually have a physical list as well. Speculating as to what might be on each assistant coach’s list is always a fun exercise, and there are no shortages of items that will need to be addressed.
The No. 7 player on this list has dealt with injuries throughout his career, but whenever healthy — and even when not — he has made big plays when given a chance as both a runner and receiver. As a true freshman in 2016, Demario McCall was essentially the backup to starting running back Mike Weber. Of course, with the Buckeyes…
Running back Demario McCall is heading into his fourth season as a Buckeye. He has spent much of his time putting on weight or moving from position to position or being injured, and sometimes he’s been busy with all three. McCall was out this spring after moving back to running back from H-back. It wasn’t a serious injury, but most of his…
As a true freshman in 2016, Demario McCall was the Buckeyes’ No. 2 running back behind Mike Weber. Of course, having Curtis Samuel at H-back and JT Barrett at quarterback meant that there were not a lot of carries remaining for McCall, who was utilized mostly in “garbage time.” Urban Meyer used to lament McCall’s slight frame…
Ohio State junior running back JK Dobbins had a down year (for him) last season as a sophomore, but returns this year more determined than ever to regain his dynamic freshman form. His running mate Mike Weber is now off to the NFL, so redshirt freshman Master Teague and true freshman Marcus Crowley spent the spring trying to fill that void.
