Ohio State offensive line coach Greg Studrawa doesn’t know yet exactly what his starting offensive line is going to be this year. The good news for him is that he may have more legitimate options than any OSU offensive line coach in decades. The Buckeyes went about replacing All-Big Ten left tackle Jamarco Jones and…
If we are to believe Ohio State offensive line coach Greg Studrawa, the Buckeyes don’t yet know who their starting center is going to be. Fifth-year senior Brady Taylor had a solid spring and the early lead, but sophomore Josh Myers closed the gap by the end of the spring. Myers’ positive play muddied the situation…
It may be a completely different topic, but the title of the documentary could be applied to the pending decision by Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer and his coaching staff on who will be the starting quarterback for the 2018 season. More on that momentarily. Throughout the spring practices, I ranked position…
Born and raised in Upper Arlington, “The Golden Bear” is a proud alumnus of The Ohio State University. Arguably the greatest golfer in history, Nicklaus won 18 career major golf championships. It is with Jack Nicklaus’ quote in mind that I direct my focus upon the last position group to review during spring football…
The quarterback battle for Ohio State may be the biggest story of the spring. Can Dwayne Haskins prove this spring that he was the quarterback we caught a glimpse of against Michigan? Can Joe Burrow re-stake his claim to the position after breaking his hand last summer? And what does Tate Martell have up his cut-off sleeves…
Ohio State will only be replacing two starters on the offensive line from last season, but it will still be a starting group of five that could look much different than it did to open the season in 2017. Left tackle Jamarco Jones is gone, as is Rimington Trophy-winning center Billy Price. The Buckeyes return a dozen linemen from…
The best thing about bowl games isn’t getting to see your team play one more time, it’s getting young players another month of practices to help them grow and get better in anticipation of helping out the following season. During the season, the practices are about implementing game plans and playing against the scout team…
When it comes to coaches and discretion, the two rarely mix well. For instance, Michigan still hasn’t released an official football roster despite being less than two weeks from playing their first game. A New Jersey newspaper has filed a FOIA request just for a glimpse. So you can imagine how begrudgingly coaches give out…
Before camp got going for Ohio State, Urban Meyer said the competition at right guard featured seven possible names. Now, nearly two weeks into camp, those seven names have only been whittled down to six. Redshirt juniors Malcolm Pridgeon and Demetrius Knox, redshirt sophomores Matt Burrell and Branden Bowen…
Football season is officially upon us! Tony is probably huddled in the corner of the Woody somewhere wondering where life went wrong, Urban Meyer is praying someone parks in his spot again, Larry Johnson is wondering where he is going to play 14 future NFL defensive linemen, and Kerry Coombs is probably on…
Ohio State has now had two fall practices to further evaluate the handful of open positions waiting to be settled. Speaking at the Big Ten Media Days in Chicago one week ago, Urban Meyer talked about the current position battles as he saw them. We’ll run them down for you here. Redshirt sophomore Matt Burrell left the…
