Over the last couple of days, parents of Ohio State players have been tweeting out the good news that their son has been named a starter. Austin Mack’s mother tweeted on Friday that her son will be starting against Indiana. Sunday, Ohio State football’s Twitter account released this video of Johnnie Dixon’s mother being given…
First off, yes, this is the best name I could come up with for a standard “thoughts” piece that every writer does. I’m guessing nobody else has used this title though, so that’s good. The reason I wanted to write about the Ohio State receivers today is plentifold. Mainly, I just thought it would be good to talk about a position group…
Last year was not a banner season for the Ohio State punt return game. As a team, the Buckeyes returned 27 punts for 139 yards, which equates to a paltry 5.2 yards per return. Illinois was the only team in the Big Ten with a worse average in 2016. Ohio State managed just one punt return of over 20 yards, which was the lowest…
It’s sad to me that there are only 30 things left to look forward to this Buckeye football season. This year of looking forward has just flown by. It wasn’t too long ago that the preseason looking forward magazines were just hitting the shelves. And now here we are with the looking forward season almost over. What a year…
Ohio State football camp begins in three days. In fact, 72 hours from now, the first practice will have been over for nearly three hours. But we’ve still got some time to kill. For me, I’ve still got time to write these, and for you, you’ve still got time to read them. Soon, however, we won’t have time. Our hours will be consumed…
I just realized that splitting up this 100 Things into 10 pieces means that I have to come up with 10 separate intros. Intros are not my favorite things, and so sometimes I don’t put as much thought into them as I should. This intro, for instance, is probably going to be my worse one ever. But then I remember that I still have…
The No. 4 player on this list is playing a premier position at Ohio State. He may or may not start a game this year, but he’s as much of a starter as anybody else on the team. The words “sneaky good” are a fitting descriptor here. K.J. Hill played in 11 games last year, missing two due to an ankle injury. He caught 18 passes…
Last week’s projection was a story of consistency and proven success as we discussed the quarterbacks, led by senior J.T. Barrett. This week’s column is the polar opposite. The group, affectionately known as Zone 6 by their coach, has really been missing the consistency and “Zone 6ishness” over the last couple of seasons.
The Ohio State Buckeyes are the most-talented team in the Big Ten, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t question marks. No team is perfect. In fact, it’s overcoming their flaws that makes great teams unforgettable. Did the 2002 Buckeye offense have any business winning a national title? No. Did the 2014 defense…
Last week we brought you a breakdown of the strongest and deepest unit of the 2017 Buckeyes — the defensive line. That’s a tough group to follow, but the Ohio State wide receivers appear to be up for the challenge after a much-improved spring under the new offensive umbrella of Kevin Wilson and Ryan Day.
Binjimen Victor has gone through a full regular season, winter workout, and spring camp under Urban Meyer, and now he is experiencing his second summer as an Ohio State Buckeye. The newness has become routine, and once that happens for a player, everything becomes a little bit easier.
