It had been a while since we got to see the Ohio State Buckeyes on the football field, so there was a lot to take in when watching OSU defeat Nebraska 36-31 on Saturday. We all went in with an eye on the running game and the tackling, and while both were improved, I don’t think anybody is going to be throwing the F-word* around.
COLUMBUS — Brendon White came into Saturday’s game against Nebraska knowing that he was going to play more than his usual assignments on special teams, but he had no idea he would end up playing as large of a role as he did. Due to injuries to cornerback Jeff Okudah and safety Isaiah Pryor, White was planning…
Welcome to the Nebraska edition of the Grumpy Old Buckeye, the voice of negativity even when things are generally going pretty great, which they have not been the last few games. This is the place where I write about the things from each game that make me want to walk out onto my lawn in my bathrobe and yell at people about it.
In this episode of Accost the Field, Tony Gerdeman and Tom Orr give their instant reaction from Ohio State’s 36-31 win over Nebraska. Has everything been fixed? Have some things been fixed? Dobbins rushed for a season-high 163 yards on 23 carries, scoring a career-high three touchdowns. He sealed the game late in the fourth quarter with a 42-yard…
If Ohio State wins this weekend, which they could very well do if everything goes perfectly for them, then the Buckeyes will move up a few spots in the College Football Playoff rankings. Teams ahead of them are going to lose this weekend, I can feel it in my bones. Now that the Buckeyes have a loss, your rooting strategy…
The seventh thing they tell you at Predictor’s College is to use a bye week to start over fresh. If you have a losing record, let it go. No reason to let a losing record make people think you can’t predict good. I’ve never used this approach before because why scrap my usual 94% prediction rate? Now, however, I think it’s for the best.
It may feel like a lifetime ago, but the last time the Buckeyes took the field, they lost 49-20 to Purdue. Some people called it an upset, but it sure didn’t look like it while we were watching it live. Up next for Ohio State is a team that can do many of the same things that Purdue did, but they also have a quarterback who…
