Over the past four football seasons, we have witnessed many Ohio State football records fall. Joe Thomas Barrett IV entered the scene in 2014, saw the field for four consecutive seasons, and demolished the stat column. That’s what happens when you’re an intelligent, talented quarterback and lead an Urban Meyer offense for multiple years.
You might think there would be nothing else for a reigning Big Ten Defensive Lineman of the Year to improve upon, and if you really want to have a look of disgust aimed in your general direction, suggest to OSU defensive line coach Larry Johnson that junior Nick Bosa is a finished product. A First-Team All-American…
Tyquan Lewis in the second round to Indianapolis. Sam Hubbard in the third round to Cincinnati. Jalyn Holmes in the fourth round to Minnesota. Three members of Ohio State’s defensive end rotation the last three seasons have gone off to the NFL, and now defensive line coach Larry Johnson has to find a way to not…
Buckeyes Denzel Ward and Billy Price were selected in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft on Thursday, which has me wondering how many Ohio State football players could hear their names called in the first round of next year’s draft. The Buckeyes have had a first-round draft pick in each of the last three drafts…
The Ohio State football roster featured just four scholarship defensive ends this spring, and that was thanks in part to a weight-loss plan for Jashon Cornell, who moved over to end from tackle. Reigning Big Ten Defensive Lineman of the Year Nick Bosa returned for his final spring as a Buckeye. He leads a very talented…
It may be a completely different topic, but the title of the documentary could be applied to the pending decision by Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer and his coaching staff on who will be the starting quarterback for the 2018 season. More on that momentarily. Throughout the spring practices, I ranked position…
Last weekend’s Spring Game provided an opportunity for Buckeye football fans to get a glimpse at the key position battles that have played out throughout Spring practice. While the Quarterback battle will grab most of the headlines, the search for a new Left Tackle could arguably be the most important position…
The desire to have fresh legs in the fourth quarter — and in November — has been the reason there has been so much rotation in the Ohio State football program the last few years. Cornerbacks have done it, receivers have done it, and the Buckeye defensive ends have certainly done it as well. The last two seasons…
Since he arrived at Ohio State with a shiny new ACL, Nick Bosa has been an impact player for the Buckeyes. As a true freshman in 2016, Bosa played in every game as a part of OSU’s defensive end rotation. He finished second on the team with 5.0 sacks and fifth with 7.0 tackles for loss. Last season as a sophomore…
At some point in the next week or two, a first-year Ohio State football player will likely join an exclusive club, becoming the first player in his class to lose his black stripe. Every season since Urban Meyer arrived in Columbus in 2012, first-year players in the Ohio State football program have started their careers with…
As a First-Team All-American last season, it could be said that Ohio State junior Nick Bosa was one of the two best defensive ends in college football. The talent makes a strong argument, and the production didn’t do a bad job either. Now a junior, Bosa isn’t planning on staying the same player he was a year ago.
