Even though we are now speeding toward November, the only two games in the recent past that have mattered to most were last year’s loss to Clemson and this year’s loss to Oklahoma. No other games can get a word in edgewise — and certainly not any of the games this year.

In Ohio State’s 31-16 loss to Oklahoma, a number of the Buckeyes’ familiar offensive issues re-emerged. From struggles in pass protection, to receivers having a tough time getting open, and the inability to consistently complete passes downfield, the game followed what has now become an unwelcome pattern.
No. 5 Oklahoma (2-0) came to Ohio Stadium a seven-point underdog in the eyes of the wise guys. The wise guys proved to be not so wise. The Sooners played like a team with something to prove, and did just that in completely dominating No. 2 Ohio State (1-1) for a 31-16 win that wasn’t really as close as the final score.
