The Ohio State football team began the process of replacing J.T. Barrett this spring with a full-fledged three-man quarterback battle. Who won? Who knows? What we do know, however, is that things didn’t go great for Dwayne Haskins, Joe Burrow, and Tate Martell early, but they each closed well. The competition…
The defensive tackles may be the deepest position on the entire Ohio State football team. The Buckeyes only return one starter from last season, but they are four-deep at both tackle spots. Fourth-year junior Dre’Mont Jones is likely headed for the NFL after this season, so this is his opportunity to show The League…
The Ohio State football team only had three scholarship tight ends on the roster this spring, so there isn’t exactly a lot to recap. There was news, however. Redshirt sophomore Luke Farrell emerged as the team’s top tight end, while redshirt junior Rashod Berry and redshirt sophomore Jake Hausmann competed…
Ohio State offensive line coach Greg Studrawa doesn’t know yet exactly what his starting offensive line is going to be this year. The good news for him is that he may have more legitimate options than any OSU offensive line coach in decades. The Buckeyes went about replacing All-Big Ten left tackle Jamarco Jones and…
The Ohio State football roster featured just four scholarship defensive ends this spring, and that was thanks in part to a weight-loss plan for Jashon Cornell, who moved over to end from tackle. Reigning Big Ten Defensive Lineman of the Year Nick Bosa returned for his final spring as a Buckeye. He leads a very talented…
The Ohio State football team must replace two departed safeties from last season in starter Damon Webb and reserve Erick Smith. One starter does return in the form of junior Jordan Fuller, but he has moved over to Webb’s vacated field safety spot. The spring was spent trying to find a replacement for Fuller at boundary safety.
The Buckeyes return 209 of their 212 receptions by wide receivers from last season, which gives you a pretty good idea of the depth that Ohio State has at the position. Even with this much experience returning, however, there are still question marks. The Buckeyes may have had twice as many 50-yard completions (8) as…
Ohio State returns two starting cornerbacks from last season in Kendall Sheffield and Damon Arnette, which is (technically) as many or more than anybody else in the nation. The Buckeyes were without one of their top three cornerbacks this spring in sophomore Jeff Okudah, which allowed fellow second-year players…
