Chase Young was forced to mature quickly as a sophomore last season. His life in a 3-man rotation at defensive end last year only lasted two and a half games. When Nick Bosa went down, Young had to step up.He ended up leading the Buckeyes with 15.5 tackles for loss and 10.5 sacks. Young was named a Second-Team All-Big Ten honoree by the conference’s coaches.

It’s not often a team can say goodbye to Nick Bosa and still feel pretty good about their defensive ends. That’s Ohio State’s situation, and it was made easier by the fact that Bosa was gone from game three on last year, which forced everybody to grow up a bit more quickly. Ohio State freshman defensive end Zach Harrison had his black stripe removed following practice on Friday, signifying his full-fledged addition to the Buckeye football team. The same can be said of an offensive lineman wearing No. 75.

After a forced hiatus of a couple of months, due mainly to a lack of internet at my new home, the Silver Bullets Podcast is back. The off-season may be quiet compared to the college football season itself, but there is plenty going on with spring practices just underway and the looming annual Spring Game. In the spirit of a busy offseason…

Zach Harrison will participate in his first official practice as an Ohio State football player on Wednesday morning. That’s when the Buckeyes will kick off their spring football season. But even before he steps on that field for the first time, Harrison is already a big name among most OSU fans.

The early days of Ohio State’s Rushmen Package began in 2015. Designed to get the four best pass rushers on the field at the same time on passing downs, the Rushmen satisfied defensive line coach Larry Johnson’s desire to put as much pressure on the quarterback as possible. The Rushmen probably would have begun in 2014…
