One day after receiving a commitment from 4-star forward Jaedon LeDee, the Buckeyes received a commitment from Chatsworth, California (Sierra Canyon) point guard Duane Washington Jr.
Washington (6-3 190) is rated a 3-star prospect and the No. 55 point guard in the 2018 class per the 247Sports Composite. He announced his commitment via Twitter.

Washington committed to the Buckeyes over offers from UCLA, Butler, Cincinnati, Michigan, Iowa State, Oregon, UNLV, and Binghamton. Washington visited Ohio State this past weekend, which followed an official visit to UCLA the week prior.
The reason for so many Midwest schools showing him interest is mainly because he was at Grand Rapids Christian in Grand Rapids Michigan until moving to Los Angeles suburb Chatsworth this year. Michigan State was also showing interest. Washington is now living with his uncle Derek Fisher, who is a former NBA point guard and head coach and current contestant on Dancing With the Stars.
Washington averaged over 13 points and five assists per game last season for Grand Rapids Christian.
As a point guard, Washington can drive and finish with either hand. He does not struggle to shoot with range, and is completely comfortable pulling up off the dribble from 18 feet. He is athletic enough to get into the paint and he has a good enough feel for the basket to put the ball on the rim from a number of odd angles.
Washington now gives the Buckeyes a second verbal commitment. Ohio State also appears to be trending well with 4-star shooting guard Luther Muhammad (6-4 185) out of Jersey City. He also holds offers from West Virginia, Virginia, St. John’s, and Xavier.
Former Ohio State commit Justin Ahrens (6-5 185) will be back on campus this weekend for an official visit. He is a 3-star small forward from Versailles, Ohio.
