Urban Meyer and several of his players spoke with the media following Ohio State’s 49-21 win at Indiana. Even though the Buckeyes won by four touchdowns, Meyer wasn’t exactly in a great mood. Here are the highlights.
Urban Meyer Updates
+ This was a tale of two halves. Buckeyes have to get better. The pass defense was bad in the first half. They have to get that fixed before the Oklahoma game.
+ J.K. Dobbins played very well. This was not a surprise. He compared Dobbins to Ezekiel Elliott as a practice player. He practices very hard.
+ The cornerbacks have to play better.
+ The touchdown by Parris Campbell was the turning point for the offense. It was still disappointing not to hit a deep ball. They know they can do it, they just have to get it done in a game.
+ Meyer said he was “pissed” at the half.
+ It was good to see Johnnie Dixon make a big play because they weren’t sure he could because he’s never done it in a game.
+ Indiana threw a bunch of quick passes, but when they held on to it a little bit, the defensive line got there.
+ Asked who his starting running back is, Meyer said, “J.K. Weber.”
Kevin Wilson Updates
+ Wilson said it was good to be back in the friendly confines.
+ Indiana was doing some things defensively that they offensive line needed to adjust to, which they did in the second half.
+ The tight ends need to play better.
+ J.K. Dobbins didn’t surprise him. The only question was if he would be too amped up to slow down and play.
Tyquan Lewis Updates
+ Lewis said he wouldn’t mind playing against a team that runs the ball once in a while.
+ Lewis said players from both Ohio State and Indiana were laughing on the field during Robert Landers’ touchdown return. He said it was the funniest thing he’s ever seen on a football field.
J.K. Dobbins Updates
+ Dobbins said he felt like he was ready for a big game. This was the first time he’s played an entire game since his junior year of high school. He felt good.
+ He found out he was going to start midweek. Being from La Grange, Texas, he said he feels like his performance might be the only good news for the area right now. His family is fine, but he has some friends who were impacted by Hurricane Harvey.
J.T. Barrett Updates
+ Barrett said Parris Campbell’s drop is just part of the game. It happens.
+ Barrett thought he threw some good balls downfield. Just trying to give his guys a chance to make a play. They need to do a better job of executing, however.
+ Barrett said an example of how the offense is different than a year ago was the way they performed in the second half. They kept a good pace and the kept attacking.
