Buckeyes Will Play Without Offensive Standout At Iowa

When #6 Ohio State takes the field at Kinnick Stadium on Saturday, they’ll do it without one of their top offensive weapons.

An Ohio State spokesman confirmed that junior WR Parris Campbell did not make the trip to Iowa City with the team due to injury.

Campbell was taken to the locker room in the first quarter of the Buckeyes’ win over Penn State last Saturday. OSU head coach Urban Meyer later said that Campbell “got dinged on a kickoff return.”

Campbell has 29 catches for 410 yards and 2 touchdowns on the season. He put up a career-high 136 receiving yards in the season opener at Indiana.

With Campbell out, the Buckeyes will turn to a combination of K.J. Hill, Demario McCall and C.J. Saunders to fill the H-back role.

Hill has put up a team-high 40 receptions on the year for 376 yards and 3 scores. He had 12 catches for 102 yards in the Buckeyes’ 39-38 win over Penn State.

  1. I think what Campbell does for the team is open things up for other receivers. With him and Dixon being our elite speed receivers it spaces things out on a defense and they know one missed tackle could turn into a touchdown. I know his hands are inconsistent but if it wasn’t for a penalty and a drop earlier this season, he would have another 100 plus total yards on the year.

  2. No big loss, he drops more passes than he catches. K J Hill will more than make up for his loss.

  3. Im not talking about Iowa but I dont think Campbell helps against elite competition.
