Billy Price Wins Rimington Trophy as Nation’s Best Center

Billy Price Rimington Trophy Ohio State Football Buckeyes

One year ago Billy Price was an All-American right guard. Today he is the best center in the nation.

At Thursday night’s college football awards show, Price was awarded the Rimington Trophy, which is awarded annually to college football’s top center.

Price was named the Rimington-Pace Big Ten Offensive Lineman of the Year last week, and now he adds another prestigious award to a very congested shelf.

Price has an Ohio State record 54 career starts and is now the third Buckeye to win the Rimington Trophy, joining LeCharles Bentley in 2001 and Pat Elflein last year.

A two-time First-Team All-American and All-Big Ten performer, Price has helped lead the way for an Ohio State offense that ranks No. 6 in total offense, No. 5 in scoring, No. 28 in passing, No. 1 in first downs, and No. 5 in third-down conversion percentage.

From Ohio State

Price is from Austintown, Ohio, and has already graduated with his degree in business administration with a specialization in operation’s management. He was a first-team All-American in 2016 by the American Football Coaches Association and a strong candidate for additional All-America honors this year after already having been selected a mid-season All-American by the Associated Press. He is a finalist for the Senior CLASS Award, which honors student-athletes with notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition and he was a semifinalist for the Outland Trophy.

  1. I truly hope he gets drafted by the Vikings next April, having him play alongside of Pat Elflein ( another Buckeye ) again would greatly improve their O-line.

  2. A self made leader of men. A combination of Billy, his family and the coaching staff made him into a Champion and a leader of men. If he was a Marine others would follow him into battle along with JT.

  3. I remember early in his career some saying he should be benched. Congratulations, Billy! Not easy to do what you and Luke Fickell did.

  4. CONGRATULATIONS, Mr. Price! And if memory serves, he was a 3-star and the last man to sign. Star ratings are not very accurate sometimes.

  5. Congratulations! What an incredible honor, especially after a position switch. Great stuff for Billy and a HUGE bonus for potential OSU offensive line recruiting.
Well deserved, go out great vs USC!
