An Illinois native, Thompson came to Ohio State in 2014 as a highly-touted defensive lineman, but spent his first two seasons dealing with injuries. He was academically ineligible in 2016 and not on scholarship in 2017. He played in two games in his career, both coming last season.
Despite the struggles, Thompson will leave OSU with a degree in sport industry.
