Ohio State Spring Football Practice Schedule, Roster Notes, Etc

Ohio State Football Buckeyes

Ohio State has released the spring football practice schedule for 2018, as well as the spring roster. We have already gone over all of the physical changes that the Buckeyes have made since last season, so don’t forget to check that out in conjunction with this piece as well.

Spring practice begins Tuesday morning for Ohio State and it will be the first of two practices this week before the Buckeyes take nearly two weeks off due to spring break. They will then get back at it on Monday March 19 for roughly three practices per week over the ensuing four weeks.

Here is the full practice schedule:

• March 6, 8, 19, 21, 23, 26 and 28
• April 2, 4, 6, 9, 11, 13 and 14

The 2018 LiFE Sports Spring Game will be played on Saturday April 14 at approximately 1:45 pm. It will be preceded by Michigan-Ohio State lacrosse. General admission prices are just $5. A limited number of reserved club seats are available for $15.

New Staff Members

Cornerbacks coach Kerry Coombs has departed for the Tennessee Titans. He was joined by graduate assistant Ryan Crow, who also now has a job with the Titans as a defensive assistant. He spent his two years at OSU working with the linebackers.

Graduate assistant Randall Joyner accepted a job as defensive ends coach at his alma mater SMU. He had been working with the defensive line for the previous two seasons.

The Buckeyes’ two new defensive assistants are co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach Alex Grinch and cornerbacks coach Taver Johnson.

Two new graduate assistants have also been added in Keenan Bailey and Kenny Anunike. Bailey has worked with the OSU receivers as a student-intern the last two years. Anunike is a Duke alum who spent 2014-2016 in the NFL as a defensive end.

Also departing are quality control coaches Sean Buckley, who left for Ohio Northern, and Adam Scheier, who accepted a job as the special teams coordinator at Texas Tech.

Sophomore defensive back Amir Riep is now listed as a safety after spending his true freshman season as a cornerback last year.

What’s in a Record?

Urban Meyer is .500 at Ohio State in spring games. Not very good.
