Former Ohio State linebacker — and current Pittsburgh Steeler — Ryan Shazier walked to the stage at the NFL Draft Thursday night with his fiancé Michelle to announce the Steelers’ pick with the 28th selection of the first round.
Shazier is still recovering from a spinal injury that he suffered in a Week 13 game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
He was at Ohio State’s spring game two weeks ago as an honorary coach, spending most of his time on the field in a golf cart.
This was Shazier’s first very public display of where his progress currently stands and it was a moment that those who saw it won’t soon forget.
Check it out below.

Great to see his progress and praying for a full recovery soon for him!
It’s GREAT seeing Ryan overcoming his paralysis (spinal injury). The guy is as tough and relentless as they come. Ohio State was blessed when he arrived as a recruit, and he continues to light up those around him. Love this guy.
