Buckeyes Open As Favorites Against Michigan, Penn State, MSU

Ohio State Football Buckeyes in Michigan Tunnel

The South Point sportsbook in Las Vegas has released its opening lines for the 2018 college football “Games of the Year.” Included in those games are Ohio State’s bouts against TCU, Penn State, Michigan State, and Michigan. The Buckeyes are favored in all four.

South Point has installed OSU as a 12-point favorite in the September 15 matchup with TCU in Arlington, Texas. As an aside, the following week TCU is a pick’em at Texas.

Two weeks after the Buckeyes’ tilt with TCU, they head to State College to face Penn State. Ohio State has opened as a 1.5-point favorite over the Nittany Lions. The Buckeyes were favored by 19 points the last time they went to Happy Valley. They lost that game 24-21.

The second-biggest road game of the year for OSU is a November 10 trip to Michigan State, where they have opened as a 6-point favorite over the Spartans. In 2016, they were 21.5-point favorites over MSU and came away with a 17-16 win.

The final regular season game of the year for the Buckeyes is, of course, a home matchup against the University of Michigan. Ohio State has opened as a 9-point favorite over the Wolverines. In 2016, OSU was a 5-point favorite over Michigan, but they did not cover, and instead had to settle for a 3-point win in double overtime.

Ohio State has previously opened as a 38.5-point favorite over Oregon State per BetOnline.

Some other Big Ten East games of note have Michigan -3 over Wisconsin, Michigan State -1 over Michigan, Michigan -3.5 over Penn State, and Penn State -4.5 over Wisconsin.

Also, Alabama is -10 at Joe Burrow’s new home of LSU.
