Cincinnati’s Jowon Briggs has included OSU in his latest cut down, but the team he excluded may be the real story.
Briggs, who plays at Walnut Hills, tweeted out his Top 10 late Monday night. The list consisted of Ohio State, Virginia, Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, Rutgers, Miami (OH), Pittsburgh, Michigan State, and Penn State. Interestingly, however, is the absence of Notre Dame, who is the current Crystal Ball favorite with 75% of the eight predictions. That number continues to drop, as you might expect.
Here’s my top ten as of now

Briggs (6-2 290) is the nation’s No. 5 defensive tackle per the 247Sports Composite and the No. 59 player in the 2019 class overall. Rivals likes him as the No. 2 defensive tackle and the No. 57 player in the nation. ESPN sees him as the No. 11 DT and the No. 86 player.
Briggs visited Michigan State this past weekend.
A powerful and explosive interior defender, Briggs is one of just a handful of defensive tackle targets for the Buckeyes in the 2019 recruiting cycle. He is most certainly their top target, but Cincinnati has long been a tricky recruiting area for Ohio State. Not having Notre Dame involved, however, would seem to be a pretty good sign.
Another defensive tackle on the Buckeyes’ radar is Apopka, Florida prospect Tyler Davis. Davis (6-1 293) is the No. 9 defensive tackle in the nation. North Carolina tackle Joshua Harris (6-2 316) has previously included Ohio State in his cut down process.
Five-star Hawaiian Faatui Tuitele has also been involved with OSU this spring, including an unofficial visit back in April.
This is what Tuitele’s Crystal Ball looks like with 14 predictions having been made.
