Buckeyes Make Cut for 5-Star 2020 PA Receiver Julian Fleming

Catawissa, Pennsyvlania (Southern Columbia High School) wide receiver Julian Fleming released his Top 6 via Twitter on Wednesday. The 2020 5-star prospect’s top group consisted of Virginia Tech, Georgia, Penn State, Clemson, USC, and Ohio State.

Fleming (6-2 190) is the No. 2 wide receiver in the 247Sports Composite and the No. 12 overall prospect in the 2020 class. In 247’s own rankings, he is the No. 1 receiver and the No. 2 prospect overall. Ohio State target Bryan Bresee, a 6-foot-5 290-pound defensive end prospect, is the No. 1 player overall in the Composite.

Ohio State hosted Fleming for an unofficial visit a couple of weeks ago. He also visited Penn State, Virginia Tech, Georgia, and Alabama in the spring.

Fleming is coming off of a sophomore season where he caught 69 passes for 1,462 yards and 20 touchdowns. This was after a freshman season where he finished with 36 receptions for 956 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Catawissa is about 90 miles from State College, which is one of the reasons why Penn State holds all nine Crystal Ball predictions.

Ohio State doesn’t have any receivers committed in the 2020 class, but they have landed quarterback Jack Miller, offensive tackle Paris Johnson, and cornerback Lejond Cavazos in the past week or so.

Miller has mentioned Fleming as one of the players that he was going to try to bring to Ohio State.

The Buckeyes have offered 17 receivers according to 247Sports. They recently offered Rakim Jarrett out of St. John’s College High School in Washington DC. The offer came one day after Jarrett — the No. 45 player in the 2020 class — tweeted out that he did not have an OSU offer.
