Two-Minute Drill: Urban Meyer Post-Practice Updates 9.26.18

Urban Meyer Ohio State Football Buckeyes

COLUMBUS — Urban Meyer spoke with the media following practice Wednesday evening. He provided updates on how the week has gone for his Buckeyes and also looked ahead to Saturday’s matchup in State College against No. 9 Penn State. You can check out all of the highlights of what the Buckeye head coach had to say below.

+ The offensive line has to dominate this game. It can’t be three and outs. Every big game is going to be a field position game. You have to take care of the ball and move the chains as well.

+ “We’re an offensive line driven program.”

+ These types of games are more important because you’re recruiting the same players as Penn State.

+ The East Division is “a real one, top to bottom.” It’s day-to-day in recruiting and day-to-day in preparing for games.

+ Backup center Brady Taylor will be out for a few weeks with a knee injury but should be back for the bye week. Amir Riep is back following a hamstring issue.

+ On Ryan Day and Kevin Wilson: “I don’t want them to change the way they’ve been calling plays.”

+ Tate Martell better be ready. Competitive guy. “Kind of a cowboy out there a little bit.” Dynamic athlete.

+ There is a lot of football left for Dre’Mont Jones, but he is a dynamic guy and they need him to dominate in this game. His game compared to last year has shot way up. He’s a very serious player and goes really hard.

+ Demario McCall plays both H-back and running back and “he’s going to be involved in this game plan I think.” At tailback he needs to be stronger and at receiver he needs to be more fluid.

+ The Penn State environment is great. Asked if he likes it, he said he likes it when OSU is able to win there.

+ “Mike Weber’s ready to go.”

+ Brian Snead may or may not be out this week.
