Ohio State and Urban Meyer will be hosting a pair of 5-star prospects from the 2020 recruiting class this weekend.
Houston, Texas wide receiver (North Forest HS) Demond Demas and Scottsdale, Arizona (Saguaro HS) cornerback Kelee Ringo both announced via Twitter earlier in the week that they’d be in Columbus for Saturday’s game between Minnesota and Ohio State.
Because they are 2020 prospects, both visits are unofficial, which means the players are paying to come see OSU.
Demas (6-4 210) was originally supposed to attend the TCU-Ohio State game in Dallas last month, but he visited Texas A&M the week before and ended up committing to the Aggies.
Before that, however, he released a Top 5 of Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, Texas, and Oklahoma. The commit to Texas A&M surprised plenty of people.
Demas is the No. 20 player in the nation per the 247Sports Composite and the No. 3 receiver in the 2020 recruiting class.
Ringo (6-2 192) is a big corner, ranked the No. 2 prospect at his position and the No. 11 overall player in the nation.
Ohio State offered in April, and it joined offers from USC, Arizona State, Michigan, Clemson, and Notre Dame. Following OSU, offers also came from Oklahoma, Alabama, Penn State, LSU, and more.
Ringo attended an Alabama camp in the summer and has been to both Arizona and Arizona State in the past few months.
Arizona may seem a long way to go for the Buckeyes, but they already have two 2020 commits from the Copper State in quarterback Jack Miller and running back Darvon Hubbard.
Ohio State’s 2020 recruiting class currently ranks No. 3 in the nation and No. 1 in the Big Ten.
There will be other visitors this weekend for the Buckeyes as well.
Illinois defensive end Rylie Mills is visiting. He is the No. 9 strongside defensive end in the 2020 class. He holds offers from Notre Dame, Clemson, Alabama, Ohio State, and others.
Massillon Perry running back Jaylen Anderson will be on campus as well. A 2021 prospect, he does not yet possess an Ohio State offer, but he is the No. 6 running back in the nation per 247Sports.
The Buckeyes will also be hosting 2022 Indiana quarterback Brady Allen per 247Sports.
