4-Star 2020 LB Kevin Swint Includes OSU in Top Group

Four-star 2020 linebacker Kevin Swint (6-2 224) tweeted out his top seven on Monday and the Buckeyes made the cut.

Swint, from Carrollton High School in Carrolltown, Georgia, is the No. 9 outside linebacker in the 2020 class per the 247Sports Composite and the No. 195 player in the class overall. ESPN ranks him as their No. 81 player overall and the No. 4 outside linebacker.

Joining Ohio State in his top group were Boston College, Clemson, Wisconsin, South Carolina, LSU, and Florida. He also holds offers from Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Michigan, Notre Dame, and Purdue.

Swint took unofficial visits this fall to Clemson twice.

There are only four crystal ball selections made so far and Clemson owns three of them, with Georgia receiving the fourth.

The Buckeyes don’t yet have a linebacker committed in the 2020 class. In fact, they don’t even have a defensive player committed yet.

Despite the lack of commitments, Ohio State is highly involved with a number of other outside linebackers.

Five-star prospect Mekhail Sherman is from St. John’s College in Washington DC and the Buckeyes own all five of his crystal ball projections. Maryland’s hiring of Mike Locksley may make things more difficult for the Buckeyes, as Locksley is one of the top recruiters in the nation and will sell local players on staying home.

Four-star linebacker Derek Wingo is from St. Thomas Aquinas in Fort Lauderdale, which is where the Bosa brothers came from, as well as current Buckeye Damon Arnette. Ohio State is the pick for four of the six crystal ball guessers so far.

Then there is 4-star Akron Hoban prospect DeaMonte Trayanum, who is a bit of a different prospect. At 5-foot-11 and 215 pounds, he is not your typical linebacker. He still holds offers from OSU, Notre Dame, Michigan, Penn State, Stanford, and Wisconsin, among others. The crystal ball has five of the six projections pointing at the Buckeyes.

There is a long way to go until signing day 2020, but so far Ohio State appears to be in good standing with a number of the nation’s top outside linebackers.
