Four-Star Offensive Guard Enokk Vimahi Commits to Ohio State

Ohio State Buckeyes football Enokk Vimahi

Four-star Kahuku, Hawaii offensive lineman Enokk Vimahi has committed to Ohio State and will be signing with the Buckeyes.

Vimahi (6-5 263) made the announcement in a ceremony at his school.

Ranked the No. 7 offensive guard in the 2019 recruiting class and the No. 124 player overall, Vimahi committed to Ohio State over USC, Oklahoma, and many others.

While USC was the favorite going into signing day, perhaps Vimahi put the writing on the wall when he visited OSU in January during the cold and snow and wasn’t scared away. That visit was then followed by an in-home visit from Ryan Day to put the finishing touches on his recruitment.

Vimahi is an athletic prospect who plays left tackle for his Kahuku High School team. He is so effective as a pass blocker that some defensive ends choose to simply attempt to bat passes down rather than take Vimahi on in a pass rush. He is also a very aggressive run blocker who can stay engaged until the play is over. He is ranked as a guard, but could certainly grow into a tackle.

Vimahi’s commitment helps the offensive line depth, but only temporarily as he is planning on leaving on a two-year church mission following his freshman season. He will return to Ohio State for the 2022 season.

Ohio State now has three offensive linemen signed in the 2019 recruiting class, as Vimahi joins 5-star Georgia center Harry Miller and 4-star Mentor lineman Ryan Jacoby. The Buckeyes may not be done yet, however, as one more decision is yet to come.

At 6:30 pm, Indianapolis offensive lineman Dawand Jones will be making his announcement. The Buckeyes are the expected favorites, but Jones recently took an official visit to Penn State.

  1. This is great news and a good player! However we likely won’t see him on the field for 3 years! Ist year lineman typically RS and beef up. Then it’s two years with the mormans and lose what he gained the first year.
