Top 50 Ohio DE Darrion Henry Visiting Ohio State Today

Cincinnati Princeton defensive end Darrion Henry (6-6 260) will be visiting Ohio State on Friday.

It has been a busy March for Henry, who has visited North Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, and Alabama over the last three weeks. He left his Georgia and Alabama visits holding offers from both schools.

This is the latest of a number of visits to Ohio State for Henry, who is ranked the No. 3 strong-side defensive end in the nation and the No. 41 player overall in the 2020 class per the 247Sports Composite.

Of the 12 Crystal Ball projections, Ohio State owns all 12.

Here is 247Sports’ scouting report.

Traits to function on the edge in all fronts with room to grow into an interior defender. Plays defensive end and defensive tackle on film. Shows good initial quickness and flexibility. Can get offensive linemen off balance with his twitch. Uses hands well to detach from blockers. Shows athleticism and coordination as a tight end, too. Should impact the two deep right away evolving into a disruptive player at the point of attack. Projects as a future second-rounder.

Henry is a big defensive end who shows very good burst getting up the field. He may not actually be 6-foot-6, but he has good length and can cover a lot of ground in a short amount of time.

According to the 247Sports Composite, Henry is the No. 2 player in the state of Ohio. He is one spot behind 5-star Cincinnati St. Xavier offensive tackle Paris Johnson. Johnson committed to Ohio State in June, but visited Tennessee at least twice in the winter, and is coming off of recent visits to Georgia and Alabama.

The Buckeyes still do not have any commitments on the defensive side of the ball. Given the number of young defensive ends on the Ohio State roster right now, this is not a position that they will need to load up on in the 2020 class.

  1. I think LJ would do wonders for his hand and feet techniques. The motor and will are right there with very good athleticism. A season or 2 with Coach Mick and LJ and this young man is a first rounder. Shed 10 or 15 pounds of body mass and rebuild it back up to 275 with lean muscle mass. Boom, this guy could be a beast.
