A Look At The Ohio State Football Championship Rings

Ohio State Buckeyes football championship Rose Bowl Rings

Spring Game weekend at Ohio State is unique mixture of the past, present, and future of the Buckeye football program.

It’s the first chance for many Buckeye football fans to get a look at that year’s team. How does the new quarterback look? How about all those early-enrolling freshmen?

It’s also a major recruiting weekend that could bring in commitments. Those players are the ones who will take the field for the Buckeyes in 2020 and beyond.

But it’s also one last chance to look back at the previous year’s team before many of its stars head off to the NFL.

The Spring Game always draws a number of former Buckeyes back to the Horseshoe.

It’s also when championship teams get their rings.

Thursday morning, the program handed out some hardware to the 2018 Big Ten and Rose Bowl champion Buckeyes.

This year’s ring has the Ohio State logo on the top, along with the conference and Rose Bowl trophies. The words “2018 Big Ten Champions” are written around the top.

Each player’s name is on one side of the ring, along with the scores of the win over Michigan and the Big Ten title game win over Northwestern. The other has the score of the Buckeyes’ 28-23 Rose Bowl win over Washington.

Inside each ring is inscribed “Long Live The Brotherhood. Back to Back.”

The program also handed out its traditional pair of Gold Pants to every player, celebrating the Buckeyes’ 62-39 win over Michigan.

It didn’t take long for pictures and video of those to start showing up on social media, including a little jab from punter Drue Chrisman on his Gold Pants tweet.
