Ohio State is 1-0 after a 45-21 win over Florida Atlantic on Saturday and we got to see some of the things we’ve been waiting to catch a glimpse of seemingly since the end of last year’s Rose Bowl. Life after Dwayne Haskins, a new-look offensive line, and a faster-looking defense were all on full display — especially in the first quarter. Justin Fields had a solid first start as a Buckeye and the Silver Bullets looked quite good for most of Saturday afternoon.
Chip and I break down the Buckeyes’ first win of the season and we were mostly pleased with what we saw, although we could use a bit more success on the ground from JK Dobbins. We discussed the things that stood out to us on both sides of the ball and we’re both super psyched to see the tight ends getting involved, although one game doesn’t make a trend.
We also look ahead to the upcoming visit from the Cincinnati Bearcats, who are also 1-0 after beating UCLA in Week 1. Luke Fickell’s defense looks stout and will tell us a lot more about both the 2019 OSU offense and Fields himself. We give you our score predictions for Saturday and our “picks to click” on both sides of the ball.
It’s good to be back in season.
