Silver Bullets Podcast — The Game Rewind and More Stinking Badgers

Ohio State Podcast Silver Bullets Podcast Ohio State Football

Another iteration of The Game has come and gone and not much has changed from the Urban Meyer era to the Ryan Day regime. The Wolverines are still getting outclassed in the series, which is a trend that delights Ohio State fans and horrifies Michigan faithful. Chip and I enjoyed discussing what started as a back-and-forth battle and eventually settled into another comfortable win for the Buckeyes despite a second-half injury scare for Justin Fields that had Ohio State fans everywhere either holding their breath or offering up prayers.

Jonathan Cooper illustrated how seriously Ohio State takes this rivalry by using up his fourth and final game of the season to play in The Game and he was rewarded with a sack. As for the rest of the Buckeyes, well, they certainly looked like they have been living the rivalry all season rather than just talking about it. We break down the win, the stats, and how our predictions shook out.

I pulled some surprising statistics about holding calls this season (or maybe not that surprising if you’ve been paying close attention) to see if we’re just whining about officiating or if there’s something there to actually warrant concern. Turns out there’s a good reason for Ohio State fans to be upset.

Our regular trip around the Big Ten found us underwhelmed by some of the other games and mildly surprised at some others. The big one we were interested in turned in Wisconsin’s favor and therefore the Buckeyes will meet the Badgers again this Saturday night.

Speaking of the Big Ten Championship Game, we think things will be a bit tighter this time around despite the better weather conditions indoors, because it’s difficult to beat the same opponent twice in one year and we’re really not sure how mobile Fields will be on Saturday. We made our predictions and our picks to click for the match-up in Indy.
