Buckeyes Make Final Cut for Top 100 WR David Bell

David Bell Ohio State Recruiting Buckeyes

Four-star Indiana (Warren Central/Indianapolis) wide receiver David Bell released a cut down of schools Thursday night. Included in his Top 5 were Ohio State, Purdue, Iowa, Penn State, and Indiana.

Bell (6-2 185) is the No. 16 receiver in the 247Sports Composite and the No. 103 player overall. In 247’s own rankings, Bell is the No. 12 receiver and the No. 74 player in the 2019 class.

Ohio State offered Bell back in December following a junior season where he caught 52 passes for 1,075 yards and 11 touchdowns. As a sophomore, he finished with 68 receptions for 1,201 yards and 17 touchdowns.

The Buckeyes currently have two Indiana natives in their receiving room already in Fort Wayne’s Austin Mack and Indianapolis’ Terry McLaurin. They also have a commitment from Avon, Indiana running back Sampson James, which is only going to help in Bell’s recruitment.

OSU receiver commitment Garrett Wilson is also friends with Bell, which certainly won’t hurt the Buckeyes’ chances.

With 10 predictions submitted, Ohio State is the Crystal Ball favorite at the moment.

Bell was named First Team All-State in 2017 and 2016. He is a big-play receiver who could project to either outside spot due to his frame and his ability to attack a defense.

Ohio State only has one wide receiver currently committed, though the aforementioned 5-star Texan Garrett Wilson won’t be the last pass catcher in this class. Bell is expected to visit OSU later this month. As far as a commitment is concerned, there are no immediate plans, but plans are known to change.
