Buckeyes Make Cut for Tre Williams, No. 3 DT in 2020 Class

Tre Williams Ohio State Recruiting Buckeyes

Ohio State is trending very well with some of the nation’s top 2020 recruits, and on Thursday another Buckeye target released a Top 10 with OSU in it. This time it was defensive tackle Tre Williams (St. John’s College HS) out of Washington DC.

He tweeted out his top group of suitors.

Joining Ohio State are Penn State, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Michigan, Clemson, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, and Virginia Tech.

Williams (6-3 308) is the No. 10 defensive tackle in the 247Sports Composite and the No. 131 player overall in the 2020 recruiting class.

In 247’s own rankings, however, he is the No. 3 defensive tackle and the No. 59 overall player. He is also the No. 3 player in Washington DC.

Williams has been to Penn State a number of times, but it is currently Ohio State who holds the Crystal Ball advantage with just four predictions in so far.

Interestingly, Williams played defensive end last season as a sophomore and did not look at all out of place. He displays speed and quickness that is rare for somebody his size. He would obviously project to defensive tackle in college, but he has shown an ability as a pass rusher that will be happily utilized on the inside.

Williams is one of four defensive tackles Ohio State has offered according to 247Sports. Carmel, Indiana prospect Cole Brevard (6-3 280) visited OSU back in the spring. He is the No. 7 defensive tackle in the Composite and nobody has yet to put in a Crystal Ball guess yet.

The Buckeyes (and Notre Dame and Penn State) offered Denver prospect Aidan Keanaaina last month. He is the No. 23 defensive tackle in the Composite. Other names will no doubt emerge in the coming months.

Ohio State is sitting with two verbal commitments in the 2020 class, but they could be adding another one Sunday when Arizona quarterback Jack Miller announces his commitment.
