Before KJ Hill was Ohio State’s all-time leader in receptions he was committed to Arkansas. The Little Rock native was going to be a Razorback. When Urban Meyer hired Chris Ash to take over the Buckeye defense prior to the 2014 season, Ash told him about Hill, who was being recruited while he was at Arkansas. They offered Hill in March, but he didn’t commit until signing day.
Since Urban Meyer’s arrival, the H-back/slot receiver has been the focal point of the Ohio State passing game. The role of the position changes depending on the receiver manning it, and it has fluctuated from the likes of Philly Brown to Dontre Wilson to Jalin Marshall, then to Braxton Miller and Curtis Samuel, then most recently to Parris Campbell and KJ Hill.
