Ohio State cornerbacks have been very, very good to the NFL over the last 20 years or so, but they have really ramped it up since Urban Meyer and Kerry Coombs arrived. Over the last 21 years, the Buckeyes have produced 10 first-round draft picks at cornerback. In the spring, Denzel Ward is expected to make that 11 first rounders.
Every fall, Urban Meyer and his assistant coaches sit with high school football players and their families and explain the benefits of playing their college ball at Ohio State. The chance to be a part of the greatest rivalry in sports and play for championships is part of it. They sell the value of an OSU degree, the “Real Life Wednesdays” program…
The rumors started on December 8. That was the day that junior cornerback Denzel Ward was one of eight Buckeyes expected to be made available to speak with the media. Ward never made it. His absence provided a hint of an answer to the questions that he was going to face. With more and more NFL prospects skipping their…

Ward, from Macedonia, Ohio and Nordonia High School, ranks in a tie for 13th nationally – and tied for second in the Big Ten Conference – with 10 passes defended and with 1.4 passes defended per game. The Nittany Lions are looking to stay undefeated while the Wolverines are looking to keep their division title hopes alive. Ohio State, meanwhile, has the week off and many of the Buckeyes will be watching the game…
