Ohio State will be replacing two-year starter Damon Webb at free/field/falcon safety this season, and they will have to do it with a player who possesses superb coverage skills. Junior Jordan Fuller returns for his second year of starting at strong/boundary/deep/post safety, and the Buckeyes look to be in pretty good hands there.
In his second season as a starter in 2017, free safety Damon Webb proved to be one of the Buckeyes’ most consistent defenders. He led a secondary that had to replace three starters, each of whom was a first-round draft pick. The Ohio State defense dropped from third in the nation in pass efficiency defense in 2016 to 13th in 2017.
Isaiah Pryor spent the 2017 season as Damon Webb’s backup as a true freshman.
