Big plays dot this rivalry like monuments on a battlefield. Desmond Howard’s punt return in 1991. Beanie Wells’ spin to win in the Game of the Century. The Catch by Anthony Gonzalez in 2005. Heck, former Wolverine receiver John Kolesar has an entire grove to his name. And there will likely be more plays added to a list that…
As Tom Orr pointed out this week, the team that runs the ball better in this game is the team that generally wins, and when it comes down to where I see the Ohio State offense’s best chances at success in this game, it is their running game. The Buckeyes have the best running game in the Big Ten — averaging 252.6 yards per game…
Ohio State captains J.T. Barrett, Terry McLaurin, Parris Campbell, Billy Price, Tyquan Lewis, Jalyn Holmes, Sam Hubbard, and Chris Worley spoke with the media following practice Tuesday night. They were asked about the only relevant topic in town. Here’s much of what each of them had to say.
It was fourth-and-1 at the Michigan 16-yard line. The final half of the second overtime. J.T. Barrett took the snap and slammed forward, picking up the first down in the process. The line judge immediately spotted the ball as a first down because the nose of the ball only had to be touching the 15-yard line. Then came the review…
One of the burning questions heading into the game versus Illinois was whether the Buckeyes would put more plays on film for Michigan to game plan for, or play a vanilla offense so as not to show too much. Ohio State wasted no time in showcasing a number of misdirection plays leading into The Game. In fact, the Buckeyes…
Saturday in Ohio Stadium was just another day for J.T. Barrett. Through his five years and four played seasons at Ohio State, the quarterback from Wichita Falls, Texas, has been the face of the Ohio State football program for much of that time and has faced unparalleled scrutiny for a player with 141 career touchdowns and 35 Big Ten…
Nineteen seniors will be walking out of the tunnel at Ohio Stadium for the final time on Saturday. And they’re all trying not to think about it. In a physical game like college football, emotions are meant to drive the players, not leave them vulnerable. When it’s your last game at home and your family is there to greet you, however, all bets are off.
One of the characteristics of Urban Meyer’s Ohio State football program is that after a loss, the team tends to get back to pounding the ground with the running game. In 2016, after two games being held under 200 yards rushing, which culminated in the heart-breaking loss at Penn State, the Buckeyes finished out their Big Ten…
Following practice Tuesday evening, Ohio State defensive coordinator Greg Schiano spoke with the media about his defense and their upcoming opponent. Also speaking with the media were quarterback J.T. Barrett, safety DamonWebb, and linebacker/special teams demon Zach Turnure. You can see most of what they each had…
