Seven new Buckeyes, including transfer quarterback Justin Fields and the six early enrolling freshmen, spent time meeting with reporters. Topics included their transitions to Ohio State, the impact of Meyer’s departure, and their first month as Buckeyes.
Welcome to the first foray into our annual look at the candidates who will be competing to replace Ohio State’s departed starters. Today we start where everything starts in sports — at quarterback. Replacing Dwayne Haskins won’t be difficult because it’s going to happen regardless, but living up to the standard that…
This a topic that I stole from the message board because I found it pretty interesting. In any given year there are certainly candidates to discuss, but this is especially true in the years when the Buckeyes have won a national championship. In 2014, you could make the argument for Ezekiel Elliott or Taylor Decker or Joey Bosa or Darron Lee…
Well before quarterback Dwayne Haskins bypassed his final two seasons of eligibility at Ohio State, the process of replacing him had begun. And then all hell broke loose. Justin Fields transferred in, Tate Martell transferred out, and freshman Matthew Baldwin was there to watch it all happen. Fields is arguably the most-highly-touted…
The 2018 Ohio State passing offense was unlike any other we saw before it. Together, quarterbacks Dwayne Haskins and Tate Martell threw for 5,100 yards and 51 touchdowns. The Ohio State quarterback room looks very different than it did just one month ago. There’s one new coach in, one transfer in, and three current quarterbacks plus one commit out – all in the span of one month.
There is a budding legal industry surrounding college athletes who have transferred and are looking for immediate eligibility. Attorneys are hired to present cases to the NCAA that their clients shouldn’t have to sit an entire season out before being allowed to play. They make these arguments based on circumstances of…
The 2018 college football season has been over for a week now, which means it’s time to move on and get ready for 2019, which is exactly what sportsbook BetOnline.com has done by releasing early Heisman odds for next season. Of note for Buckeye fans is the appearance of rising sophomore transfer quarterback Justin Fields…
Ohio State just lost arguably the greatest quarterback in program history to the NFL when Dwayne Haskins entered the 2019 Draft. But with the addition of Justin Fields, they may have brought in a comparable replacement this week, too.
If there is a day without competition for an Ohio State Buckeye, it’s because they didn’t have to come to the football facilities that day. Other than that, competition rages between those walls wherever players gather. The most prominent in-team competition in football is almost always the quarterback position, and the…
