Theory versus testimony. This is one of Urban Meyer’s core recruiting pitches. Other schools will tell recruits what they can do for them, while Ohio State shows them what they have done for so many others. It’s theory versus testimony. Meyer can show recruits results (testimony) instead of possibilities (theory).
Ohio State enters 2018 having to replace arguably its top two offensive players in center Billy Price and left tackle Jamarco Jones. Together, they made the Buckeye offensive line the most consistent aspect of the entire Ohio State football team. Senior right tackle Isaiah Prince has moved to left tackle to fill the…
When Ohio State announced that Ryan Day had earned a promotion to offensive coordinator and a raise this past winter, it also raised questions as to the various roles that he and fellow offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson would now have. Each step of the way, both Day and Wilson — as well as Urban Meyer — have stated…
One of the differences between Jim Tressel and Urban Meyer’s football philosophies is that Meyer has chosen to have more offensive linemen on the roster than Tressel generally had. Ohio State has had offensive coordinator Ryan Day in the program for a little over a year, but in the last few months, the Buckeyes have had to fight off suitors who were looking to hire him away. Back in December, Urban Meyer said that Day had turned away numerous opportunities, but then in January, more offers…
Ohio State last played in the Cotton Bowl 31 years ago, becoming the first Big Ten team to take part in the Texas classic. The Buckeyes won that game 24-12, and OSU fans still have happy visions of Chris Spielman intercepting a pair of passes, and returning one for a pick six. It was a nice cap to a season that about six weeks earlier…
The Buckeyes are on pace to set a school record for total offense per game this season. The current record is 511.9 yards per game by the 2013 team, but the 2017 team is currently averaging 523.6 yards per game. Their 42.5 points per game is tied for third-highest in school history as well. Despite those lofty numbers, things haven’t…
