The Buckeyes are one of those rare teams that lost a starting cornerback early to the NFL over the offseason, yet still return two cornerbacks who are also considered starters. Fifth-year senior Damon Arnette and junior Jeff Okudah are back, and bring with them three seasons of experience in OSU’s starting rotation. Three second-year corners…
Ohio State returns Damon Arnette and Jeff Okudah, who were both in the rotation with Sheffield last year. The common theory is that the rotation will continue if possible. The first name that comes to mind when thinking about continuing the rotation is redshirt sophomore Shaun Wade. Wade was the team’s nickel back…
With Denzel Ward off to the NFL, fourth-year junior Damon Arnette is now the only cornerback on the Ohio State roster who has seen more than one season with the Buckeyes. Kendall Sheffield transferred in from Blinn College last year and earned a starting spot in the three-man rotation. When Ward declined…
The Buckeyes may return two starting cornerbacks from last season, but the rest of the position consists of freshmen and sophomores. Second-year players like Jeff Okudah, Marcus Williamson, and Shaun Wade are going to be counted on to provide depth behind incumbents Damon Arnette and Kendall Sheffield.
The Buckeyes left spring camp with a top three rotation at cornerback of Damon Arnette, Kendall Sheffield, and Jeff Okudah. That trio isn’t set in stone, however, as fall camp can increase the number if second-year players like Marcus Williamson and Shaun Wade show that they belong. Both players showcased…

Every year people get excited for Ohio State’s spring game. It’s the first opportunity to see the latest edition of the Buckeyes, after all. The anticipation builds and builds, until finally the game begins. And that’s when people remember that there is no tackling for most of the game. Then comes the grumbling…
Ohio State returns two starting cornerbacks from last season in Kendall Sheffield and Damon Arnette, which is (technically) as many or more than anybody else in the nation. The Buckeyes were without one of their top three cornerbacks this spring in sophomore Jeff Okudah, which allowed fellow second-year players…
There is plenty of talk about the large number of receivers who return for the Buckeyes this season, and even a little bit of talk about sophomore Jaylen Harris who only had a couple of catches last season. There has been virtually no talk about redshirt freshman Ellijah Gardiner, however. But don’t worry. “Man, a whole…
Members of the Ohio State football team met with reporters on Wednesday. Cornerbacks coach Taver Johnson and a pair of corners were on hand, as were linebackers coach Bill Davis and a handful of linebackers. They each provided updates on how spring ball is going and how their respective position groups are looking.
Robert Lawrence Stine, better known in literary circles as R.L. Stine, is a native Ohioan from Columbus, and a proud graduate of The Ohio State University. While Stine is a novelist with a focus on children’s literature, one might apply the quote above as we move onto the next position group to review, the 2018 Ohio State defensive backs.
