The NFL will release the full list of players who have been allowed to declare early for the 2019 Draft, but we already know which Buckeyes have made the move. In all, six players — defensive end Nick Bosa, defensive tackle Dre’Mont Jones, cornerback Kendall Sheffield, quarterback Dwayne Haskins, running back Mike Weber, and center…
Transferring has existed in college football as long as college football was a thing worth transferring to, but it’s never been quite like this. Over thirty years ago, not seeing himself as a wishbone quarterback, quarterback Troy Smith transferred from Oklahoma to UCLA. A few years after that, and for the same reason, Kent Graham…
With Tate Martell’s appearance in the NCAA’s transfer portal last week, what was expected to be a relatively calm winter suddenly foamed white with choppy seas. While Martell isn’t necessarily gone, based on social media sleuthing, it sure looks like he is on his way out. He was removed Ohio State from his Twitter profile…
I’ll be honest, part of me just wanted to be the first person on the Ohio State beat to ask the annual question about the Buckeye tight ends. Another part of me, however, is wondering what is in store for the tight ends with new co-offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich’s influence on the Ohio State offense. And after looking…
It appears that Ryan Day has finalized his defensive staff with Thursday’s hiring of former Maryland linebackers coach Matt Barnes. Barnes actually handled playcalling for the Terrapin defense last season and was also the special teams coordinator. He will now be Ohio State’s special teams coordinator and also be the assistant…
In a bit of a surprise move on Tuesday, Ohio State fourth-year junior H-back KJ Hill announced that he is returning for his fifth-and-final season with the Buckeyes. Many times, players are graduated and simply ready to move on by the time a fifth season rolls around. Hill, however, is following the path that was also chosen…
With Clemson’s blowout win over Alabama in last night’s College Football Playoff championship game, we have put another season in the books. Which also means preparation for the 2019 season starts today. Even though there is a new head coach at Ohio State, you can expect the goals to remain the same.
By this point in the process, new Ohio State head football coach Ryan Day knows who he wants on his coaching staff. The problem now is making it happen. Day already swung for the fences once and brought in Mike Yurcich from Oklahoma State, stealing him from the University of Tennessee in the process.
At 6-foot-3 and 225 pounds, running a 4.5, and with an arm like an Australian punter’s leg, there aren’t many apt comparisons for new Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields. The first thought that comes to my mind is that Fields is the quarterback you created in NCAA Football and then tried to recruit. You gave him 99s in…
It had been rumored for days, but the news of Alex Grinch leaving Ohio State for Oklahoma is still surprising given that coaches don’t generally leave Ohio State for the same job somewhere else. Of course, this isn’t quite the same job. At Ohio State, Grinch was one of two coordinators, but it’s fragmented even more than that…
