Ryan Day’s first full signing class as head coach at Ohio State finished fifth in the national rankings this past February. The Buckeyes signed 25 players, including the nation’s top offensive tackle in Paris Johnson, two 5-star receivers in Julian Fleming and Jaxon Smith-Njigba, as well as a 5-star quarterback in CJ Stroud.
When a new offensive or defensive coordinator joins a college football team, that generally means some changes are coming as well. Depending on the reason for the new hire, those changes can be dramatic or slight. If the previous coordinator was fired, expect sizable changes. If the previous coordinator took a head coaching job, then those changes may not be so noticeable.
The day Urban Meyer signed a contract as Ohio State’s head coach is also the same day the H-back became a focal point for the Buckeye offense. Known as “The Percy Harvin Role” for Meyer’s first few years, the hybrid slot receiver/running back featured many different names, most of whom were never actually a hybrid of anything. The position was finally mastered in…
When a college football program becomes known for producing NFL players at one particular position more than any other school, people take notice. For instance, if a program sends more quality running backs to the NFL than any other school, they become known as RBU. For the last couple of years, there has been an argument…
A wide receiver’s job is to get open and catch the ball. No receiver did that more at Ohio State than KJ Hill. Hill leaves OSU as the school’s all-time receptions leader with 201 catches and finishes sixth in yards with 2,332. A First-Team All-American last season, one of Okudah’s goals when he arrived was to have his photo on the wall inside the Woody Hayes Athletic Center with the other great Buckeye cornerbacks.

The term “all purpose” is usually another way of saying “smaller running back who probably can’t be a workhorse, but could provide big plays and also catch passes.” That definition didn’t fit Dobbins…

The former Ohio State defensive end is expected to be selected by the Washington Redskins with the second overall pick. Possibly going third to the Detroit Lions is former Buckeye cornerback Jeff Okudah.
The NFL Draft is just a few days away and normally in the weeks and months leading up to it, NFL coaches, GMs, and other front office personnel are watching players take part in pro days, or personal workouts, or interviewing them in person. However, most pro days didn’t happen this year because of the coronavirus pandemic. The in-person interviews were…
