This was the game we were going to have notions confirmed, and after Ohio State’s 42-0 win over Cincinnati on Saturday, there was plenty of confirmations going on. Justin Fields looked as comfortable as a goat in a junk yard, and his receivers gave him more cushions than a bumper pool factory. The running game responded as well, providing…
There is always a lot to learn from the first game of the season. Unless that first game is against an overmatched opponent and there’s somebody lurking in week two that you don’t want to show too much to. That may be the case here, which could help explain Ohio State bursting out to a 28-0 lead in the first quarter, to then just coast the rest of the way…
The Michigan game may have taken place on Saturday, but it still feels like we’re in postgame mode. Or maybe it’s just me. This game was one for the ages, albeit for only one side of the battle, which may make things even better for Buckeye fans. Ohio State not only demolished the Wolverines, they ended their title hopes…
Just because this week’s Ten Things is remarkably late doesn’t mean we didn’t learn much. It just means that I wish Ohio State basketball wouldn’t schedule games the day after long football road trips. If you didn’t have any rooting interest in the game, Saturday’s 52-51 win over Maryland for the Buckeyes was tremendous entertainment…
Every win on the road in conference play is a good win, especially when they come against a ranked opponent. On Saturday, the Buckeyes went into East Lansing and defeated the No. 18 Michigan State Spartans by a score of 26-6. They held MSU to 54 yards rushing, with 47 of those yards coming on a single quarterback rush.
It had been a while since we got to see the Ohio State Buckeyes on the football field, so there was a lot to take in when watching OSU defeat Nebraska 36-31 on Saturday. We all went in with an eye on the running game and the tackling, and while both were improved, I don’t think anybody is going to be throwing the F-word* around.
The clock struck midnight on the Buckeyes precisely two weeks earlier than it did a year ago. Last year, Ohio State went into Iowa City high and mighty following a dramatic win over Penn State. They were high on life, and were subsequently tagged with a 55-24 blemish that never left them. This year, they went into West Lafayette following…
Ohio State came into Saturday’s game against Minnesota favored by 30 points, which means they would have needed to shut out the Gophers just to cover. As we know, that didn’t happen. Fourteen points given up is pretty good, but it’s a little bit like putting deodorant on gangrene to cover of the smell. Only scoring…
The No. 3 Ohio State Buckeyes (6-0, 3-0) didn’t quite cover the spread, but they still got a 49-26 win over Indiana (4-2, 1-2) on Saturday. Quarterback Dwayne Haskins threw for the most yards ever in a Buckeye victory, while the Buckeyes rushed for the fewest yards ever in a win. Okay, the second stat is fake, but isn’t…
For the Buckeyes, the Penn State game was the ultimate measuring stick following the first measuring stick of the TCU game. We knew we’d know more after the trip to Jerry World, but we also knew we’d know even more after the trip to Happy Valley. Ohio State went to Penn State and overcome a 26-14 deficit in the…
The Buckeyes moved to 4-0 on the season with Saturday’s easy peasy dismantling of Tulane on Saturday. The game featured the return of head coach Urban Meyer to the Ohio State sidelines, and 30 good minutes of Dwayne Haskins and the Ohio State first-team offense. It also featured 14 players who caught a pass, six…
