Now that we know the Ohio State spring game is officially going to happen on Saturday, it’s time to talk about what we’re looking forward to seeing. We talked about it for a good hour on Accost the Field this week, but since not everybody is the listenin’ type, I thought I’d break a few of the areas down that I’ll be watching.
Born and raised in Upper Arlington, “The Golden Bear” is a proud alumnus of The Ohio State University. Arguably the greatest golfer in history, Nicklaus won 18 career major golf championships. It is with Jack Nicklaus’ quote in mind that I direct my focus upon the last position group to review during spring football…
A depth chart during spring camp for the Ohio State football team is only partially written in ink. The rest is filled in with pencil, hopes, and whispers. With just two practices remaining this spring, there isn’t much more that the Buckeye coaches are going to see. What they have seen to this point is definitely shedding…
The Ohio State football team was back on the practice field Wednesday for spring practice No. 7 on the year. Afterward, coordinators Kevin Wilson and Greg Schiano spoke with reporters, as did several offensive linemen, including Isaiah Prince, Thayer Munford, and Brady Taylor. Long-snapper Liam McCullough…
It was offensive line and specialists day for the Ohio State football beat on Wednesday. Offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson and defensive coordinator Greg Schiano also spoke with reporters. Among the players who also took part were offensive linemen Thayer Munford, Brady Taylor, Michael Jordan, Demetrius Knox, and…
New Ohio State co-defensive coordinator Alex Grinch spent the last three years working with Washington State Mike Leach. Leach is known as one of the most eccentric head coaches in the nation. He can be outspoken about serious things and outspoken about trivial things. Everything you’ve seen from Leach on…
Ohio State will only be replacing two starters on the offensive line from last season, but it will still be a starting group of five that could look much different than it did to open the season in 2017. Left tackle Jamarco Jones is gone, as is Rimington Trophy-winning center Billy Price. The Buckeyes return a dozen linemen from…
When Ohio State left guard Michael Jordan worked his way into the starting lineup as a true freshman in 2016, he did it in part by enrolling early and going through spring football. It also didn’t hurt that the Buckeyes had an opening at the position. When offensive tackle Thayer Munford enrolled at Ohio State last summer…
On an offense with the most productive quarterback in school history and two Rimington Trophy winners, left tackle Jamarco Jones has arguably been the most consistent member of the Ohio State offense the past two seasons. Jones was a First-Team All-Big Ten selection this past season and was a constant whenever the…
The Ohio State offense will have a very different look next fall. For the first time since 2014, the Buckeyes will break in a new starter at quarterback. They will have a new first-string tight end, and after the NFL Draft deadline passes on January 15, they could have several starting spots open at the skill positions as well.
The best thing about bowl games isn’t getting to see your team play one more time, it’s getting young players another month of practices to help them grow and get better in anticipation of helping out the following season. During the season, the practices are about implementing game plans and playing against the scout team…
